Gate automation: what to prepare before installation
Those looking for gate automation systems usually start with the motor. However, a good installation begins before that: with the condition of the gate, how it moves, and the conditions of the entrance. A new motor won't solve a misaligned gate leaf or a support that gives way.
If the gate already exists, describe the problems you notice in daily use. Noise, strain, irregular movements, and marks on the pavement are useful information for the evaluation. Avoid choosing the equipment solely based on the width of the entrance.
Check the mechanical parts first.
The professional should evaluate the structure, hardware, supports, and the path of the gate leaf. In a sliding gate, it's interesting to observe the track, wheels, guides, and stops. In a swing gate, it's important to check the rotation axes and the condition of the fasteners.
As Nice installation instructions These include checks of the structure, friction during movement, stops, and access to the unlocking mechanism. These are points that show why the choice requires an evaluation of the whole.
Explain how the entrance is used
The number of openings throughout the day, the dimensions and characteristics of the gate leaf influence the selection. A villa and a service entrance may need different solutions, even if the gates have a similar appearance.
Also mention who uses the entrance. Are children present? Is the pedestrian passage separate? Do suppliers enter frequently? The installer needs this information to study appropriate controls and protection measures.
Prepare the work before closing the floor
In a construction or renovation project, it is worthwhile to take care of cable routing, equipment location, and electrical power supply early on. Planning should be coordinated between the gate manufacturer and the professionals responsible for the installation.
Show the locations where water accumulates during rain. The position of the motor and other components should not be decided solely based on visual convenience. Also confirm access for future maintenance, without needing to disassemble elements of the structure.
What happens when there is a power outage?
Ask how the manual unlocking of the proposed model works and how it is achieved safely. If you want a backup solution for power outages, ask that compatibility and operating conditions be clarified in the quote.
Upon delivery, request a demonstration of normal operation, controls, and procedures provided in the manual. Keep the documentation and service contacts in an easy-to-find location.
Bring sufficient information for the first contact
Photographs of the gate open and closed, approximate measurements, material, location, and frequency of use help to get started. Inform if there is already a motor and if you wish to keep the gate. You don't need to guess the power of the new equipment.
Lumiinox works with custom gates, including automatic solutions. Send us your entrance details to analyse the necessary manufacturing or adaptation.
